Cross section of the duodenal epithelium

Section through the duodenal epithelium of No. 6520. In its proliferative activity it forms diverticula opening from the central lumen and also isolated follicles. Because of the exuberant growth of its epithelium, there are produced the two fusiform enlargements of the duodenum, above and below the combined pancreatic and bile ducts.
